Dallas TX Car Insurance Question

Filed under: Houston SR 22 Insurance — admin @ 9:27 am

Question: How does one go about obtaining vehicle insurance for a 17 year old driver in Dallas, without paying an arm and a leg?

Comment: I think this is a super question to inquire about your teen driver. At 17 years of age this teenage driver can not legally enter a contract since they are not considered an adult. I would assume that most teenage drivers would be considered “safe” drivers they are still not old enough to sign the insurance contract.

I would also assume that most insurance companies would require a parent and or a legal gaurdian to sign the contract and to be financially responsible for the vehicle and the driver’s actions.

I would start off your investigation by making a few phone calls the local insurance carriers in your area and get their opinion on this question.

I really do not see why you could not get decent coverage for your teen driver, but a better question might be are you going to be able to afford this type of coverage?

You might also want to contact the Dallas car insurance bureau or DMV to ask them if there are any restrictions for obtaining Dallas auto insurance in your area or specific situation.

Georgia Car Insurance Questions

Filed under: Houston SR 22 Insurance — admin @ 3:20 pm

A reader today asks: How does one go about obtaining vehicle insurance for a beginner 17 year old driver in Georgia, without paying an arm and a leg?

I think this is a super question to inquire about your teen driver. At 17 years of age this teenage beginner driver, can’t legally enter a binding contract since they are not considered an adult. I would also guess that most teenage drivers would be considered “good” drivers they are still not old enough to sign on the dotted line of the contract.

I would also assume that most vehicle insurance agencies would also require a parent and or a legal gaurdian to sign the contract and to be financially responsible.

You might want to start off your investigation by making a few phone calls the local insurance carriers in your immediate area and get their opinion on this question.

But I really do not see why you couldn’t get coverage for your teen driver. A better question to ask my be are you going to be able to afford this type of coverage?

You might also want to contact the Atlanta GA car insurance bureau or DMV to ask them if there are any restrictions for obtaining car insurance in Georgia.

SR 22 car insurance how to

Reader question:

So, how do you buy SR 22 car insurance?

Mytai

Thank you for asking, Mytai.

You buy SR 22 car insurance in much the same way that you buy any other type of car insurance coverage. The only difference here is that it is much more difficult to get good rates on SR 22 car insurance than on other types because you start at a higher rate, and it is also harder to find a car insurance company that provides SR 22 car insurance coverage.

First, you need to determine the kind of coverage that you will need. As the holder of SR 22 car insurance, you will want to make this as little an amount as possible. You will probably be extra careful because of the SR 22, so you shouldn’t have to worry about collision coverage. Just go with the state required minimum. Make sure you get a decent amount of coverage in the liability area.

If you are unable to find a company that will issue you SR22 car insurance coverage, then you can join the state’s assigned risk insurance pool. This pool allows you to get car insurance coverage with all of the usual companies even if they had denied you before, but it requires you to pay very high premiums, which will make having SR 22 car insurance even worse. If it is avoidable at all, then avoid it.

Oregon SR22 filing requirements

Reader question:

What are the requirements for Oregon SR22 filing?

Juanita

Thank you for asking, Juanita.

Oregon SR22 filing is required whenever you are convicted for drunk driving or for driving without car insurance or financial responsibility. You will be required to do SR22 filing with your car insurance company for three years and thirty three days after the initial requirement is mandated on you, or for a total period of thirty seven months. Here are some other reasons that you might have to do Oregon Sr22 filing on your car insurance:

  • You were driving while uninsured and got into a car accident.
  • You were caught driving without car insurance coverage that is required by state law.
  • The department of motor vehicles requested that you provide them with proof that you have auto insurance liability coverage, and you could not do so.
  • You are trying to get a hardship driver’s permit.
  • After you get your license back after you have been convicted of a DUI.

If any of these reason requires you do to SR22 filing for proof of insurance, the SR-22 form is the only kind of proof that is accepted, and it has to come straight from your car insurance company. You are not able to simply provide your car insurance card as proof of coverage.

Once you are required to get SR-22 filing on your car insurance, you have a month to get this special type of coverage. That does not mean that you can go a month without car insurance coverage period, only that until you are able to file the SR-22 form you should avoid driving.

South Carolina SR-22 form

Reader question:

What are the laws concerning South Carolina SR-22 form and DUI laws?

Aaron

Thanks for asking, Aaron.

In South Carolina, when you go to get a driver’s license, as soon as you sign that form you have given what is called implied consent. That is to say, you should be aware what the consequences are for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, so by signing on to get a driver’s license you are essentially consenting to a test should you be pulled over under the suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The police in South Carolina also reserve the right to videotape your blood alcohol level test to use against you in your DUI conviction court.

If you get a South Carolina SR22 form, you will have to file it for as much as three years after the date that you first were convicted of drunk driving. This will wreak havoc on your car insurance premium, and you will see your previous car insurance premium increase by twice or three times as much. You may even have to go with a new company because many car insurance companies in South Carolina do not insure high risk drivers like those who are required to file the South Carolina SR-22 form. Along with having to pay extra for South Carolina SR-22 auto insurance, you will also have to attend a group that will help you with your drinking problem, regardless of whether this drinking occurence was a one time offense.

SR22 filing period

Reader question:

How long do I have to have SR22 filing for?

Leah

Thank you for asking, Leah.

The answer to your question depends on which state you are coming from. While most states have very similar laws concerning the SR22 filing period, some differ from others. For example, in Texas the period of SR22 filing is only two years, whereas in most other states that period is longer, around three to five years for a drunk driving or speeding offense.

The amount of time that you have to do SR22 filing also depends a lot on how many times you have committed the offense. If you commit it a second time, then you are going to get much harsher punishments than you would have if you had only done it once. Normally, committing the offense for a second time extends the period of SR22 filing by a couple of years, and then for a third time it doubles that new one. Every time it happens you have to do SR22 filing for longer, until you are no longer able to have a license at all.

One thing that I should mention is that the period during which your license is suspended counts towards the amount of time that you have to have SR22 car insurance coverage. So if your license is suspended for three months, once you get it reinstated, you will only have to pay for SR22 filing for your car insurance coverage for a year and nine months in th state of Texas.

Cheapest SR22 form

Filed under: Houston SR 22 Insurance, SR 22 Insurance TX — fashun @ 8:47 am

Reader question:

How can I get the cheapest SR22 form in Houston?

Kelly

Thanks for asking, Kelly.

There is no such thing as a cheap SR22 form, but there is such a thing as the cheapest SR22 form. And there is no SR22 specific way for you to get that. If you want to get cheap Houston SR22 car insurance, then the only way to achieve that goal is by the old fashioned ways.

  • Deductible.

In order to get significant drop in your SR22 form insurance, you need to raise your car insurance deductible. Your deductible should be at least five hundred dollars, but it is best for your price if it is around a thousand dollars or more, if you can afford that. If you are worried about being able to afford a higher SR22 form deductible, then you should set aside the money you are saving from lower premiums for the deductible later–you might never have to use that money, and it will be nice to have it add up for something else.

  • Cut your coverage.

While you have a Houston SR22 form you have to have car insurance, but you don’t have to have a lot of car insurance. In order to make the price of your SR22 form insurance drop, you can drop your coverage to the minimum required by your state.

Student Texas SR-22 car insurance

Reader question:

I’m a student and I got convicted for a DUI. Now that I have my license back, I’m supposed to file Texas SR-22 car insurance for two years. I hear it’s really expensive. Is there any way that I can get it to be cheaper?

George

Thank you for your question, George.

When you’re young, car insurance costs are often very high, especially while you are a college student and it is harder than usual to afford the Texas SR-22 car insurance rates. These high premiums might have you eating ramen more often than usual if you don’t step up and do everything that you can to get them to be lower. Lucky for you, being in Texas you only have to file SR-22 car insurance for two years, whereas in most places it’s between three and five years.

Over the next two years, though, I would pay close attention to my grades if I were you. The reason I say this is because the greatest car insurance discount you can get as a student is the good student discount, which most companies offer and which awards students who have a B average or above or a 3.5 GPA or above with a car insurance discount. I applied this to my own car insurance premium and receive fifteen percent off. When you are paying so much for Texas Sr-22 car insurance, such a discount can save a lot.

Cheers,

Married SR22 filing

Reader question:

Is it cheaper to do SR22 filing when you’re married?

Ramone

Thanks for asking.

That all depends on who you are married to. It is usually the case that married couples pay less for car insurance than do non married couples, and this is also true when SR22 filing is involved. The main reason for this is that being married is seen as being responsible and married people file fewer claims than unmarried people, so car insurance companies charge them less. It also tends to be because when you get married, you join together your car insurance policy, and so you go from a one name one car policy to a multiple policy, which tend to cost less. In a marriage, the person that usually benefits the most from lower car insurance rates is the male, because guys tend to pay more for their car insurance, an amount which is tempered when married.

However, this does not always apply. It is much the same when you have great credit and you marry someone with terrible credit, and then you try to apply for a house together. You might have less luck than if you had applied alone. It goes the same way if you marry and join car insurance policies with someone who has a very bad driving record. If your spouse has a good driving record, then you might benefit from that some by having to pay less for your SR22 filing. However, if your spouse has a bad driving record, then it will just cost more.

Cheers,
